The primary purpose of the Åbo Akademi University Foundation is to financially support Åbo Akademi. This is done by an annual contribution of 10–15 million euros. Scientific research is supported mainly by allocating research grants to the Åbo Akademi University Foundation Research Institute and by supporting the Donner Institute for Research in Religious and Cultural History.
What we do
The Foundation fulfils its purpose by supporting Åbo Akademi University. In addition, the tasks of the Foundation include maintaining and funding institutes, museums and establishments within research and culture, and awarding scholarships, grants, contributions and prizes. The Foundation owns and manages university properties, commercial properties, and rental flats in order to further the purpose of the Foundation.
The Åbo Akademi University Foundation today manages some 400 funds, most of which originate in wills or donations. Many find it a natural choice to bequeath their assets to a foundation or a purpose they value, or to establish a fund the yield of which is to be used for a good purpose.
Please note that our office in the Observatory is closed on Monday April 30 and on May 1, 2018.
